Having seen the mouth o the beast, I want to jump and be consumed, By fire and life, By love and lies, Only to be saved by the coming tides. Threatening to take the lives, Of those posed to save us from our demise, We fall never to rise, To our sins' battle cries.

Though we live such fragile lives, We dance on the edge of the horizon, Waiting for the inevitable fall, That will lead us to the depths of Hell.

Some days I sit down with folded hands and pray, Though I walk in the valley of your love,   I am terrified I'm sorry but you just don't understand. All I could do is run, run from you, Because you're just too bright and my heart has a longing for the night. Your light burns my eyes and makes me see that my darkness lies all around me. When I run far from you, your light barely in view, my eyes adjust to the night, and eventually so does my heart.

Hello we haven't met yet, or maybe we have. Everything is blurry and dark Living is a challenge and breathing is damn hard. So here I'll lie with your hand clasping my heart, my lungs filling with water and the light slowly fading. You would call me weak if you understood how much I want to drown. Drown in the sound of two hearts beating side by side Drown in the misery of having never tried and living with regret. Drown in the songs that men sing of hatred and being a part of something great. Hope is a lie they tell to the naive To make easier to steal and demean They pull the carpet beneath your feet. One day you may be president or maybe a star Hell, just be whoever you are! Take center stage and they'll make you their play Pretend to care and learn the lines they need to say. And when you fall, they'll point it to God. I mean, come on! He's in charge of it all! But let's face it, it's you. Gobbling lies. Acting too lazy to have the scales removed from your eyes.

Though we wade through darkness, May our hearts stay strong, So memories of better days may live on. Let not our souls sink down to hell, But let us fight to stay above the waves, So someday we may have a tale to tell.

I have looked out into the dark expanse, Into what was and what could have been, Into who I am and who I was and who I want to be. I saw you. Skirting through the darkness with me by your side, Winding, curving, through the expanse with your dreams on your sleeve and your heart stuck somewhere between reality and cold impactful ground. And as the tendrils of tenebrae grasped you in a warm embrace, Tears all but flowed from your dear face, So here I'll stand in these old lands, and here I'll be until I find me.

You have to sit there, happy and smiling. I return the favor, keep up the play, Because the truth will never come back. The truth is, when you said, me you didn't want to hurt, It was self protection with no caring. Things were over and you were daring, Me to play the part of the Bad One. The one that gave in. But have no fear, remain dishonest, and show them the lies you let me believe day after day. A man without hope does well in this play. A play without words, only smiles.  So vile and wretched, but ever so mild that we keep up this play with hardly an effort. Or rather you. You do. Because I was weak, I fell and now it seems bleak
